Aim2run – active inspiration and motivation to run, is the work of Garry Cochrane, who, as a mature student, recently completed his Msc Sports & Exercise Psychology postgraduate degree at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Seventeen years after the completion of his first degree; Garry decided to take his own personal experience in running – 15 marathons to-date (with a few more on the way) and a former level 2 qualified endurance running coach – and examine what motivates and just importantly what prevents, individuals from accomplishing their health goals.
Today more than ever, the UK faces a health crisis with an increase in obesity, the rise of sedentary lifestyles and all the resultant health issues such as cardio-vascular disease and diabetes amongst many others.
Active inspiration and motivation are the necessary ingredients to promote health and wellbeing amongst individuals, the workplace and society overall. For some it might be the challenge of running a marathon, for others it might be running with their kids in the park, but no one needs to do it on their own.
